WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

This course covers both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to operate a Forward Tipping Dumper safely. Key learning outcomes include:

  • Pre-Shift Inspections: Identifying defects and performing routine maintenance.
  • Stability & Safety: Understanding the center of gravity, especially when tipping on inclines or uneven ground.
  • Site Manoeuvring: Safe travel through restricted spaces and across varied terrain.
  • Loading & Discharging: Coordinating with other plant (like 360° excavators) and safe tipping into excavations or onto stockpiles.
  • Legal Compliance: Understanding the Health and Safety at Work Act and PUWER regulations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To ensure a smooth training experience, candidates should meet the following:

  • Experience Level: Available for Novice, Refresher, or Experienced Worker Test (EWT) candidates.
  • Fitness: Good physical health and eyesight.
  • PPE Required: Candidates must provide their own Hard Hat, High-Visibility Vest/Jacket, and Steel-Toed Safety Boots.
  • CITB HS&E Test: Required to have been completed within the last 2 years.

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

Testing consists of two parts:

  1. Theory Assessment: A professional discussion or multiple-choice test to verify your knowledge of machine safety and site law.
  2. Practical Assessment: A series of maneuvers and tasks designed to prove your competence in operating the dumper in real-world site conditions.

Upon successful completion, you will be issued an NPORS Operator Card, recognised across the UK construction and civil engineering sectors.
