WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
This is a fast-paced, high-impact theory course that covers the essential “Rules of the Road” for construction sites:
- Personal Responsibilities: Understanding your legal duty to look after yourself and others under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Risk Assessment & Method Statements: Learning how to read and follow the “RAMS” provided for your tasks.
- Manual Handling: Safe lifting techniques to prevent long-term musculoskeletal injuries.
- Working at Height: An introduction to the risks of ladders, scaffolding, and edge protection.
- Fire & Electrical Safety: Basic prevention and emergency response procedures.
- Occupational Health: Awareness of site-specific “invisible killers” like silica dust, asbestos, and noise.
- Plant Awareness: Staying safe around moving machinery, including 360° and 180° excavator “blind spots.”
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This course is designed for entry-level workers, but is also a valuable refresher for anyone returning to the industry:
- Experience Level: No prior experience required (Novice friendly).
- Language: A basic understanding of English is required to complete the theoretical assessment.
- Materials: All training materials, including the NPORS workbook, are provided on the day.
- PPE Required: None required for the classroom session.
ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION
To gain your certification, you must demonstrate your understanding through:
- Theoretical Examination: A multiple-choice assessment at the end of the day.
- The Card: Successful completion results in the NPORS Safety Awareness Card.
